MY STORY

It may sound snooty, but I am a video artist, not a video editor. It's like the difference between a cook and a chef. A cook makes food, but a chef dreams of a delicious dish up and creates it. Any person with a computer can edit together pieces of video, but I can take that video and make it look better, sound better, then dress it up with effects.

As a video artist, you need to understand the tone of the story. Every single aspect of what is done after that is about giving the best presentation to it. It's a video symphony with many components that come together. You've got music, sound effects, shot selection, color grading, video effects, and music.

For instance, on investigative stories I like to use a cocktail of serious-sounding music, low pitch drones to fatten out the sound, sound accents, black and white color effects, adding sepia tones, adding grain, dips to black for transitions, blurring solarized color transitions, shading the edges of the video to add some depth, After Effects camera moves, VFX, motion graphics splattered art and more.
